13:55 – HIGH STOCK – WIN (5/1)
If High Stock is fully tuned up on his first run for 120 days, he will no doubt be competitive in Listed action. Soft ground is a slight unknown, but he ran well with slight cut in the going at Goodwood last season. so supporters can be hopeful the rain won’t cause an issue. He was last seen finishing fifth at Goodwood back in May, running his usual solid race in a strong contest and while this race isn’t much easier, his consistent nature is appealing.
14:30 – TRILBY – E/W (17/2)
Carrying a 5lb penalty does make this task slightly harder, but Trilby has proven fruitful to follow in recent outings and he will certainly love the soft ground with an almost guaranteed strong gallop. His latest win at Beverley and his valiant second at Haydock were both over the minimum trip, yet he has form over six with three career victories at this distance. Regular jockey PJ McDonald does not ride but Tom Marquand is a fantastic replacement, and it would be typical for the Sam England team to land a nice pot.
15:05 – SILENT BEAUTY – WIN (7/4)
I think Silent Beauty could be very good and as such, should be winning this Group 3 contest. She won a valuable Listed race at Ripon 19 days ago in very facile fashion, notably handing ease in the ground, and the form of her debut win at Yarmouth reads very well, with the runner-up that day now being rated 99. Her only flop came at Royal Ascot when bombing out in the Albany Stakes but that can be forgiven, as not every juvenile handles that occasion. Win this and then onto bigger and better things.
15:40 – TUCO SALAMANCA – E/W (10/1)
In the feature race of the day, Tuco Salamanca has received considerable market support and despite being off a career high mark of 106, everything looks primed for a big run. He was excellent 42 days ago at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot, squashing the rumours he was a better horse on the all-weather – and the confidence in the betting suggest connections believe they can be very competitive here. Soft ground will be fine as he won on the surface before at York and if he did win this, he would contest some exciting group races next year.
