Norway vs England Preview

Norway enjoyed the biggest win in their history last Sunday evening, a 2-1 victory over Brazil which will live long in the memory.

A brilliant second-half brace from talisman Erling Haaland was enough to secure a date with England in Miami.

The Norwegians were simply too strong for Brazil, with Martin Odegaard dictating play in midfield and Andreas Schjelderup making a huge impact off the bench courtesy of two assists.

Stale Solbakken’s side beat Iraq (4-1) and Senegal (3-2) in the group stage, before defeating Ivory Coast 2-1 in the Round of 32.

England’s progress to the quarter-finals was secured by a famous 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico at the iconic Azteca Stadium.

Jude Bellingham scored twice and Harry Kane netted from the penalty spot, while the Three Lions also showed serious defensive grit in the second half after Jarell Quansah’s red card.

Thomas Tuchel’s men came from 1-0 down to beat DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32, while their only other game vs European opposition at this tournament saw them beat Croatia 4-2 in their group-stage opener.

Norway’s previous match against a continental opponent at this tournament saw them lose 4-1 to France, though that was with a second-string XI deployed.

But with the big hitters in the team, England face an entirely different prospect – one made scarier by injury concerns over Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Reece James.

Norway vs England Betting Tips

Anytime goalscorer – Erling Haaland @ 2.17

Haaland’s performances on the World Cup stage have somehow exceeded his incredibly high expectations. The Manchester City striker has seven goals from four appearances at this tournament, while England have kept just two clean sheets in five games. The defence’s experience of trying to deal with him in the Premier League arena may count for very little…

Anytime goalscorer – Jude Bellingham @ 3.33

We were tempted to back Kane in this market, but Bellingham’s relatively high odds really caught our eye. England’s midfield star has tallied four goals at World Cup 2026, as well as registering nine shots on target – more evidence of his impact in the final third.

England to win and both teams to score – Yes @ 3.37

As we are backing a goalscorer from each team, it feels only right to dip into the BTTS market. Norway are a seriously good team, one capable of beating any other side at the tournament. But the win at the Azteca appeared to show a new side to this England squad, with the momentum gained perhaps steering them to a goal-filled victory here.
