15:35 Friday – PRECISE – WIN (8/11)
In receipt of nine pounds from her main market rival, this tips things firmly in Precise’s favour, as she tackles older fillies and mares for the first time. To put a numerical edge on things, Precise ran to a Racing Post rating of 116 last time in the Coronation Stakes compared to market rival Blue Bolt who ran to 117 in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, both at Royal Ascot. Factoring in the nine pounds in difference, this would mean an eight-pound benefit to Aidan O’Brien’s filly, roughly a four-length victory. The margin allows her to underperform slightly and still have enough. Blue Bolt is a lovely filly but on these terms, it may be too big of a challenge.
14:52 Saturday – WECHAAD – E/W (9/2)
Wechaad was given an impossible task in the Britannia Stakes and was never really in the race, so he did well to finish seventh. He didn’t really quicken, just galloped to the line at the one pace, but finishing this close in a Royal Ascot handicap is still a decent effort. It was his first attempt at a mile and he saw it out well and receives a 7lb swing at the weights with the re-opposing winner, Moonfall. I’d say he is more experienced than his rivals rather than exposed, as he does have untapped potential over intermediate trips. Ryan Moore in the saddle is obviously a bonus and he could go well.
15:25 Saturday – BACK IN BLACK – E/W (13/2)
Back In Black probably should have won the last day at Newcastle but was stretched by a mile and bumped into a very game rival from the Crisford team. He is a better horse on turf than the all-weather stuff, and returning to seven furlongs looks sure to suit, with his career-best effort coming at Newbury over this trip in April 2025. He wasn’t raised by the handicapper for his latest second and there could still be room to improve off his mark of 94, despite him not moving off this rating since November.
16:35 Saturday – BIG MOJO – E/W (12/1)
After successfully tipping No Half Measures to win this last year at 66/1 (yes, I am still going on about it) I am hoping Big Mojo can give me back-to-back victories. Whilst not as adventurous odds-wise, returning to six furlongs looks key to this horse, and he actually ran really well over an inadequate five in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot. He showed he is capable of winning a big sprint prize last year at Haydock and is reunited with William Buick, who partnered him to that Sprint Cup success. Now having the benefit of race fitness, and back over a more suitable trip, I think he could have a big chance.
