17:05 | Catcus – WIN (TBC)

Ryan Moore’s absence from this card tells me Aidan O’Brien’s horses are no world beaters, but Cactus has hinted at promise in her few starts and may be able to cash in here. Her performances to date have been moderate, but last time out was more encouraging when finishing fourth of 24 in a maiden at the Curragh. She steps up to seven furlongs for the first time, which looks to suit, and has been sent off favourite three times in her career, indicating there is a fair level of expectation when she runs – and underlying ability that connections have seen. She is worth taking a chance on.

18:15 | Imnotleavinyou – EW (TBC)

Irish handicaps are always fiercely competitive, so taking a chance on something at a price is often encouraged. Consistency can often be gold dust, and Imnotleavinyou has finished second in his last three starts – and looks sure to be in the mix again here. When last seen at Navan over six furlongs, he hit the line very well and moves back up in trip, which may unlock further improvement. Jockey Wesley Joyce gets to claim three lbs, which he never got tod do last time, which may swing things further in his favour. It is a weak contest, and he may get a deserved win.

18:50 | Tennessee Stud – WIN (13/8)

Proven stamina may be the key in the feature contest, a listed race over two miles which see’s Carmers and Tennessee Stud dominate the market. I am siding with the latter, who showed he handles this trip when winning the Prix Chaudenay in Longchamp – and was doing all his best work late on when finishing third in the Epsom Derby last year. The obvious question mark will be his fitness, as he hasn’t been seen for 104 days, but if he is fully tuned up he sets a tall order for his rivals to reach. As mentioned, Carmers is respected greatly for the Paddy Twomey stable.

20:30 | Maxminelli – WIN (TBC)

Henry De Bromhead’s presence in the flat racing sphere is continuing to grow and looks to further enhance this by winning the final race on the card with Maxminelli. His neck second at Ballinrobe last time is the best form on offer and a re-production of that effort would see him go very close. Without winning, he is moderately progressive and it is fair to say this is not the strongest race ever contested. The potential biggest danger is Juddmonte’s contender Amrum, who hasn’t shown much to date, but must be respected with an eye-catching pedigree for powerful connections.
