Spain are the favourites to win World Cup 2026, and Oyarzabal is set to be La Roja’s starting No9. The Real Sociedad ace, who scored the winner in the Euro 2024 final vs England, has evolved into an elite-level centre forward in recent years. His record on the international stage is fabulous, with 24 goals from 52 appearances. And with Lamine Yamal providing service, a player boasting 12 assists in his first 25 Spain outings, Oyarzabal can make a mockery of his odds here – especially as he is likely to be Luis de la Fuente’s designated penalty taker.
To reach quarter-final stage – Portugal @ 2.25
Portugal seem to be going under the radar ahead of the tournament’s start, which will no doubt please manager Roberto Martinez and the squad. The nation possesses arguably the best midfield at the World Cup in Vitinha, Joao Neves, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, as well as the finest left-back on the planet in Nuno Mendes. And, of course, the evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo is still a rich source of goals, so Portugal should emulate their 2022 performance by reaching the quarter-finals – at the very least!
Kylian Mbappe to score 4 or more goals @ 1.67
Mbappe has thrived on the World Cup stage, and is hunting down Miroslav Klose’s record of 16 goals. The current France captain scored four times in 2018 as Les Bleus lifted the trophy, and netted eight goals in 2022 to secure the Golden Boot. So Mbappe is yet to leave a World Cup without at least four goals scored, and after a season with Real Madrid in which he struck 42 times across all competitions, we just cannot see that changing in 2026. Mbappe is priced at 15.00 to repeat his 2022 success by scoring at least eight goals.
Top South American team – Argentina @ 2.50
Argentina are the reigning world and Copa America champions, and are in a favourable group alongside Austria, Algeria and Jordan. Furthermore, manager Lionel Scaloni still has the inspirational figure of Lionel Messi at his disposal, as well as other high-quality operators in Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez and Enzo Fernandez. So we expect Argentina to outperform long-term rivals Brazil, who last reached a World Cup semi-final in 2014 – and are in a fairly tough group with Morocco, Scotland and Haiti. Of course, Colombia and Ecuador could be surprise packages, but Argentina look well poised for another deep run in the tournament. La Albiceleste won each of the last three major competitions, securing Copa America wins (2021 & 2024) either side of the aforementioned World Cup triumph in Qatar.
Norway total goals – Over 7.5 @ 2.00
Norway have acquired the perhaps unfavourable tag of ‘dark horse’ for World Cup 2026 after a stunning qualification campaign, in which they won all eight games – including two big victories over Italy. The Scandinavians also scored 37 goals in UEFA Group I, an average of 4.6 per game – and seven of those goals were netted vs the Italians! So even though Norway have been drawn in a strong group alongside France and Senegal, we fancy them to score at least eight goals at the tourament. The eight best third-placed teams qualify for the new Round of 32, which significantly increases the chances of Norway playing at least four matches. With the likes of Erling Haaland (55 goals in 49 international games), Martin Odegaard, Alexander Sorloth, Antonio Nusa and others in the squad, goals should continue to flow somewhat.
