Spain are on a mission to finish top of Group H at World Cup 2026.
The reigning European champions take on struggling Uruguay in their final match, and the South Americans are staring down the barrel of elimination.
Saturday’s very early kick-off in the Mexican city of Guadalajara has all the ingredients needed for a World Cup thriller, most notably the sweet element of last-game jeopardy – the perfect fix for the neutral.
Our full sports betting preview for Uruguay vs Spain is available to view below, including the latest World Cup odds.
Uruguay vs Spain Preview
Uruguay’s campaign has been pretty poor up to this point.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were tipped to cruise through the group stage before the tournament kicked off, but things have certainly not turned out that way.
The Uruguayans had to come from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia, before surrendering a 2-1 advantage to draw 2-2 with Cape Verde in the last outing.
Those results essentially mean the South American side, with just two points on the board, have to beat Spain in Guadalajara to secure qualification for the Round of 32 – with Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia kicking off at the same time.
From a Spain perspective, a place in the knockout rounds was effectively secured with the 4-0 triumph over Saudi Arabia, in which Luis de la Fuente’s men reminded the world of their almost unrivalled quality.
Lamine Yamal was at his dazzling best, while striker Mikel Oyarzabal chipped in with two crucial goals.
It was a welcome response from La Roja to the shock 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in their opening fixture, and now the goal is to finish top of the group.
A win for Spain would be enough to achieve that feat, though a Uruguay victory could see De la Fuente’s team finish as low as third, if Cape Verde were to beat Saudi Arabia in Houston.
We are certainly in for a dramatic couple of hours!

Uruguay vs Spain Betting Tips
Anytime goalscorer – Mikel Oyarzabal @ 2.20
Oyarzabal’s mini blip vs Cape Verde was brought to a resounding end vs Saudi Arabia, the Real Sociedad striker’s two goals extending an already impressive record to 27 strikes in 55 international appearances. Oyarzabal has 10 goals in his last eight Spain outings, while Uruguay have kept just one clean sheet in the previous six matches. It could be another night to remember for Mikel.
Player to score or assist – Lamine Yamal @ 1.72
Yamal’s return to the starting XI really galvanised the Spain team vs Saudi Arabia, with the Barcelona winger netting the opening goal of the game. The teenager has 19 goal contributions in 27 international appearances, and backing him to deliver in another big match should be a great route to profit.
Spain win by 2 or 3 goals – Yes @ 3.00
If Spain play anything close to their best football in this fixture, Uruguay stand the chance of being completely overwhelmed. At the back, Bielsa’s men look shaky at best, conceding a combined total of 18 shots in the draws vs Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde. So we are predicting a comfortable Spain victory here by two or three goals.
