Kosovo vs Republic of Ireland Preview
Neither of these teams reached World Cup 2026, though each came mighty close.
Kosovo qualified for the UEFA Play-Offs and beat Slovakia 4-3 away from home in the semi-finals.
Franco Foda’s men were drawn against Turkey in the final round, but despite having home advantage, the Kosovans suffered a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a second-half goal from Kerem Akturkoglu.
The Republic of Ireland experienced a similar level of heartbreak in their quest to reach the World Cup.
Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side booked a spot in the Play-Offs with the most dramatic of 3-2 comeback wins in Hungary, secured by a 96th-minute goal from Troy Parrott – which also completed a famous hat-trick.
A semi-final date with the Czech Republic was the reward, and the Irish were just minutes away from winning 2-1 in Prague and progressing to the next round.
But an 86th-minute equaliser from Ladislav Krejci took the game to a penalty shootout, where Hallgrimsson’s troops fell agonisingly short.
The wounds may not have fully healed just yet, though a Matchday 1 victory in the Nations League would go some way to completing the emotional repairs!

Kosovo vs Republic of Ireland Betting Tips
Draw no bet – Kosovo @ 1.69
Kosovo’s recent home record is very good indeed, suffering just one defeat in the last 10 across all competitions – which was the aforementioned loss to Turkey. The Irish can also be very hit-and-miss on the road, with the brilliant 3-2 win in Hungary preceded by a 2-1 defeat in Armenia. With that in mind, tilting more towards Kosovo with this selection looks a solid move to make.
Anytime goalscorer – Vedat Muriqi @ 2.60
Muriqi boasts an international record of 32 goals in 68 appearances, and the big striker has started the 2026-27 season brilliantly with Fenerbahce. He netted six times in the team’s first six Super Lig matches of the campaign, red-hot form which should see him really put the Irish back-line to the sword in Pristina.
Anytime goalscorer – Troy Parrott @ 3.30
But the Irish usually score themselves, having netted at least one goal in nine of their last 11 matches. And when it comes to finding the back of the net in the famous green shirt, no current player is better than Parrott. The 24-year-old has two goals in his first five appearances for Real Betis this season, as well as six strikes in the previous three competitive international outings. With those stats in mind, the price on offer here is simply too good to turn down.
